Collagenesis – Skin Needing

High Tech Treatment for Acne Scarring, Stretch Marks and Surgical Scars

Collagenesis

Collagenisis is used for acne scarring or scarring of any type, like stretch marks, chicken pox scars and surgical scars. Scar tissue is dead tissue.

In this treatment we use a high tech small instrument that rolls over the skin with tiny needles. This is done after applying an anaesthetic cream.

The result is a production of healthy tissue and collagen, an increase in blood supply creating live tissue thus replacing the dead tissue area.

Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT) – Dermaroller™

Collagen Induction Therapy procedure works by stimulating your body’s own collagen. Your body will start to naturally regenerate the skin, working below the surface in the dermis. Over the following months your skin will begin showing visible signs or regeneration as new skin cell growth and blood supply is increased. This will provide you with gradual and long lasting results.

Scar Reduction Therapy (SRT)

Scar Reduction Therapy procedure works by releasing old fibrotic scar tissue deep within the skin. Scar tissue is what creates visible scars on the skin’s surface. SRT working below the surface in the dermis, repairing the skin naturally. This process takes time as new collagen and elastin fibres are formed, softening scars, generating new skin cells and incresing blood supply.

What is skin needling?

Skin needling (also called collagen injections) is a minimally invasive treatment that helps to boost collagen activity in the skin. We use a professional-standard Dermaroller skin needling roller in our procedures, one of the few devices designed for the task to be approved by the TGA.

Skin needling involves rolling a device with 3mm needles over the skin to make tiny punctures. The punctures are designed to create shallow mirco-injuries that force your body to heal its self by re-building collagen and skin cells.

How many treatments will I need?

The number of treatments you need is individual – some need larger areas treated than others. We highly recommend a skin assessment to ensure that this is the correct course of treatment for your particular situation. During the assessment your skin will be assessed and your desired results will be taken into account. From the assessment, we can give you a treatment course designed personally to you and your needs.

What are the side effects?

Generally you will experience some skin redness in the treated area for up to one week. The redness can be easily covered and concealed with mineral make-up if needed. In some cases (usually when people are slightly run-down or have this treatment when they are tired) a small amount of swelling can persist for a few days. For 24hrs after having the Collagenesis procedure you may experience some weeping/oozing of the treated area; a dressing can be applied if required. Scarring is extremely rare. Milia can develop in rare cases; if they do they can be removed easily.
